Kitsch SeriesThe KITSCH series came about from a call by the Alberta Craft Gallery entitled, 'KITSCH'. These pieces are based on feminist ideas and the desire to show that like 'kitsch', how women are often treated is also, 'in bad taste.' The individual images reference farm animals and their comparison to women and the equality of status we are often perceived to have with them. Lining the frames are the following quotes:
Prairie EmbroideriesI consider these pieces a continuation of women's voices, mine adding to theirs from the past. I transfer my own photos onto antique linen doilies and then, using what was traditionally considered 'women's work' I embroider a landscape around an abandoned space.
Quiet Voices and Bedtime StoriesThese pieces are all 20cm x 20cm x 4cm or less and are are panel board or canvas
